Project overview

As a part of the course graphical design for web I developed a concept for a fictional publishing house with a website for both desktop and mobile. The scope for the project where to:

  • Define the specialization of the company and how the user experience of the site should be aligned with the visual presentation
  • Create a logo
  • Create two campaign pages for two book with two different visual expression
  • Design a website for both desktop and mobil that should include:
    • Company logo
    • Homepage
    • Product page
    • About page and contact information
    • Campaign 1
    • Campaign 2

Design process

I started by defining the specialisation of my publishing house. I wanted to work with a wide user group but still have a niche therefor the publishing house specializes in fiction for all ages.

I started with researching how some of the major publishing companies in Sweden are working with their visual representation on their main page, product page and contact page. From this inspiration I defined the visual concept for my house.

I wanted to focus on:

  • Clear and simple navigation
  • Neutral and clean look with easy structure
  • Similarity even when the visual presentation changes

The design for the interface were first sketch in wireframes before designed and prototyped in Figma.

Personal learnings

I gained a better knowledge of how to structure my work when working in Figma and how to adapt the design to work both for desktop and mobile.
